DRUMSVIEW Concept





DRUMSVIEW Concept is a total theatre company, duly registered with the corporate affairs commission with the functions of training, nurturing, supporting and empowering youths through the preservation, enhancement of quality and presentation of our rich artistic cultural heritage.
ISIOMA WILLIAMS who is into artistic productions and believes in the philosophical theory of humanitarianism is the founder and Director of the company. It is trusted by Mrs. Ute Fricke (CEO of Melting Pot foundation) and Mr. Peter Badejo OBE (CEO of Badejoarts UK).

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROJECT

QUARTERLY

A workshop that serves as a structural and artistic process, whereby young people acquire the ability to make decisions and implement change in their own lives and the lives of other people, through the mastery of craft. We have had 2 editions:

(1) ‘CRAFT… easier done than said’, 2011: a workshop on how to make Sekere, Maracas and how to repair Djembe drum.
(2) ‘Subsidize Your Act’ 2012: a workshop on how to make products for alternative business (e.g. soap, disinfectant, perfume, deodorant, insecticide etc.)
(3) B…. Reflectors, 2013: is a music project. We recorded two tracks for two of our artistes: ‘CRIME’ by Idara and ‘DIFFERENCES’ by Fekererin.

CULTURAL EXCHANGE PROJECT

ANNUALLY

Drumsview Concept collaborates with companies around Africa amongst which are “Odehe Drum & Dance” based in Ghana, “Saroy and Bim” from Madagascar to share and exchange artistic experiences.

(a)       YETI (Young Edu-Tainment Initiative)


Drumsview Concept partners with YETI (Young Edu-Tainment Initiative) a community service project under EBS (Entertainment Bustop) Ltd, founded by Ms. Eki Faith Eboigbe (NANTAP Lagos chapter chairman) and we are poised to ensure deliverability for the millennium development goals in the area of education, particularly at the public primary schools.

As part of our arts-in-education project, we hold Dance Demonstrations at NICO (National Institute for Cultural Orientation) dance demonstration for the students.

ISIOMAWILLIAMS TRADITIONAL DRUMS CLINIC’

ANNUALLY

A humanitarian project: an Artistic yearly teaching conference in which experts in the field of the art of traditional drums and drumming are invited, to give both theory and practical lectures to amateur and professional drummers. The clinic is aimed at strengthening and sustaining originality and quality through the generations of drummers. The editions held are as follows:
1. ‘Isioma meets najite’ in 2011: A drum workshop on how to play Djembe drums, featuring Najite Agindotan from USA.
2. ‘Corrections’ in 2013:  A workshop on the originality of traditional drum playing, using Bata and Dundun as case study.
3. ‘My Music Note’ 2014: a drumming workshop fashioned to teach traditional drummers/musicians, how to read, write and use basic music notations and how they interestingly apply to our traditional music.

THE JOURNEY OF JANG-GU TO AFRICA



An ongoing workshop on how to play the Jang-gu drum from Korea and a collaborative creation between the Korean Jang-gu drum and the Nigerian Bata drum.

WEEKLY

A sub set of ‘THE JOURNEY OF JANG-GU TO AFRICA’. It is a workshop on how to play Korean Jang-gu drum.

Sights & Sounds de l’Afrique’ CONCERT TOUR


It is an indigenous drumming musical CONCERT TOUR in Nigerian universities that is set to revive, develop and promote the African art, culture and tradition through theatrical music acts.

CENTRE FOR NIGERIAN MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS (CNMI)



A project of Drumsview Concept and an initiative of Isioma Williams, to research, document and archive Nigeria’s musical rhythms, instruments and ideology, for the accessibility of lovers of reality and originality, and also for subsequent generations.

POWER ON THE DANCE MAT







An episodic reality TV show that places our leaders (financial leaders, political leaders etc.) on Nigerian Cultural dance platform. To show the people at grassroots that our leaders are not in a different world but in the same society, and are closer, committed and more interested in the progress of the people.

CRITICAL PREVIEW

TWICE A YEAR

A dance event to show case new dance creations/performances, to an audience of professional dancers, dance promoters,  dance managers, dance critics, dance enthusiast and scholars, for them to discuss and analyze, for prospective engagements.

DANCE CRAZETIVITY

MONTHLY

A reality dance show. A duo competitive dance program, which operates on the basis of how crazy a dancer’s creativity can be. Competition will not be based only on the innate ability to perform a dance e.g. Atilogwu to the designated music, but competitors must be able to convince the audience and the panel of judges with their crazy, creative ability, to do the chosen dance of the month.

A festival with presentation of awards of existence for fortitude, resilience and purposefulness.
